IPA India and JSS Academy commit to develop engineering talent

IPA India, a precision load cell, sensor, and weighing systems manufacturer, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE), Bengaluru, formalising a new partnership aimed at building and developing the next generation of engineers.

The agreement was signed by Kurian Abraham on behalf of IPA, marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to closing the gap between academic engineering education and real-world industry practice.

Under the terms of the MoU, students and lecturers from JSSATE will spend time on-site at IPA’s facilities, gaining direct, hands-on exposure to the disciplines that underpin precision force measurement. The collaboration will cover core technical areas including: load cell design, calibration and strain gauging. Students will learn load cell design, from concept through to finished product, about the processes and standards of calibration that ensure measurement accuracy and traceability. They will also be taught about strain gauging – the foundational sensing technology behind modern load cells

Rather than a one-way placement scheme, the partnership is structured as genuine faculty-industry collaboration. Lecturers as well as students will engage directly with IPA’s engineering teams, ensuring that what’s taught on campus stays connected to what’s practised on the factory floor.

Commenting on the agreement, Kurian Abraham said, “This MoU reflects a shared commitment to closing the gap between academic learning and industry practice, giving students and faculty the real-world exposure they need to thrive.”

Precision weighing and force measurement is a specialised engineering discipline, and one where practical, applied knowledge is difficult to teach through theory alone. By opening its doors to JSSATE’s students and faculty, IPA aims to give the next generation of engineers a grounding in the discipline that goes beyond the lecture hall while also strengthening the pipeline of skilled talent entering the sector.

JSS Academy of Technical Education, established in 1997 under JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, is one of Bengaluru’s established engineering institutions, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes accredited by the National Board of Accreditation and affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.

IPA India is a Bengaluru-based manufacturer of precision load cells, sensors, and weighing systems, with engineering heritage spanning close to five decades. The company continues to invest in both product innovation and the development of engineering talent across India.
