Skyjack expands manufacturing for SJ85 AJ
Skyjack is expanding manufacturing for the SJ85 AJ rough terrain articulating boom to their manufacturing facility in Orosháza, Hungary. This expanded manufacturing will harness the skillset of Skyjack’s simply reliable OROS team to better serve customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.

Skyjack’s OROS team is currently building a range of diesel, electric, and hybrid articulating booms, and diesel and electric rough terrain scissor lifts. While the SJ85 AJ has been available internationally for some time, produced at Skyjack’s manufacturing facility in Ramos, Mexico, Skyjack’s localization strategy and manufacturing expansion to Orosháza will ensure this popular and durable rough terrain articulating boom can support more jobsites around the globe.
The SJ85 AJ articulating boom offers a platform height of 25.91m (85ft), horizontal outreach of 17.07m (56ft), and a superior up-and-over clearance of 10.36m (34ft). Combining this outstanding reach envelope with dual platform capacities of 340/227kg (750/500lb) and a two/three personnel rating, sets the SJ85 AJ apart, making it the most efficient machine for operators looking to maximize productivity and jobsite performance.
The SJ85 AJ features an open centre-knuckle design, compact stowed dimensions for easy transportation and reduced tail-swing, a 360deg continuous turret rotation, and a modular rail system that makes it easy to service and replace individual rail sections.
This large boom features a durable and low-maintenance AxlDrive, which provides a true mechanical four-wheel drive system, with an oscillating steer axle and manually controlled rear locking differential for superior traction and up to 45% gradeability. This industry-leading terrain capability means one can use Skyjack boom lifts in the most challenging of conditions. EasyDrive is an intuitive direction sensing function that allows the machine to move in the general direction of the joystick’s movement, where forwards is forwards and backwards is backwards. There is no need to coordinate coloured directional arrows on the base of the machine. SkyRiser technology ensures that the riser and main pivot point connecting the fly boom to the riser travel in a straight vertical line. Movement in a true vertical manner, without drifting forward or back, reduces the amount of repositioning the operator needs to do in order to stay close to a building facade, improving productivity. SpeedyReach technology provides the ability to cycle between maximum height and ground level without the need to engage the riser function which helps to save the operator time.
Electrical controllers integrate into Skyjack’s existing SkyCoded control system, maintaining commonality and ease of troubleshooting. Customers can stay connected with machine performance using the Elevate Live scanning QR code for easy access to serial number-specific information and service data using any smartphone (no app or password required).
