New compact auto-release hook

Elebia, has launched the R2 automatic lifting hook – the company is known for its ‘fully automatic’ engage-and-release hooks and the R2 represents a strategic expansion as Elebia’s first dedicated remote release-only hook. This innovation specifically addresses the needs of clients who do not require automatic engagement but demand a smaller, lighter, and more rugged solution for their lifting operations.

The R2, weighs just 4kg while maintaining a robust Working Load Limit (WLL) of up to 2000kg. Engineered for high-performance industrial environments, its slim form and high-strength steel frame allow it to operate in space-constrained applications, such as integration into spreader beams and complex modular construction projects where traditional hooks cannot reach

The R2 introduces a refined LED logic designed to facilitate the crane operator’s work and ensure success on the first release attempt. The high-visibility LEDs communicate tension status in real-time:

• Suspended Load (Tension): Once the load is suspended, the LEDs turn off. This signifies that the load is in motion and, for safety and battery conservation, no release commands will be accepted.
• Stable Placement (No Tension): When the load is fully supported on the ground and no longer suspended, the blue LEDs illuminate. This provides the operator with clear visual confirmation that it is safe to send the release command

A core innovation of the R2 is its advanced power management system. The device is powered by a removable and rechargeable Li-ion battery that is protected by a rugged IP65-rated housing. To ensure an uninterrupted 24/7 workflow, the R2 features a tool-free swap system, allowing operators to carry spare batteries and replace them instantly on-site. This system is designed for speed and simplicity: the battery is secured with a simple “press and turn clockwise” motion, and it even features a built-in LED indicator to check the charge level at any time, even when not connected to the hook.

Eliminating the need for pneumatic hoses or cables, the R2 offers total wireless freedom. As part of Elebia’s commitment to safety and efficiency, the R2 is fully compatible with the entire range of Elebia remote controls. This universal connectivity is a signature feature across all Elebia hooks, enabling operators to manage lifting, monitoring, and releasing from a safe distance. By using encrypted radio communication, the R2 ensures that rigging is performed with precision and without the risk of physical interference.

The R2 is more than just a hook; it is a smart device equipped with an internal altimeter that enables altitude-based auto-locking. This allows the hook to automatically secure itself for the next lift after detecting vertical movement. Safety is guaranteed by a fail-safe design that prevents the hook from opening while a load exceeding 20kg is suspended. Operators receive real-time feedback via high-brightness LEDs (Blue for locked, Green for release), ensuring total control and visual confirmation throughout the operation.
