Terex RTGs for Chinese port

Terex Port Equipment has signed a new contract for the delivery of four Terex Noell Elevated Busbar rubber-tired gantry (ERTG) cranes to the Ningbo Port Group Co. Ltd., Phase V Yuandong port terminal in China.

Engineered for highly selective and space-intensive container stacking and handling, the four Terex Noell ERTGs were ordered to address the rapid growth of containerized handling operations, within the framework of its Phase V Yuandong terminal expansion. This new order will bring the number of Terex RTGs up to a total of 139 units operated by Ningbo Port Group in China. Machine delivery is scheduled for Q4 2011.

"The high quality and robust reliability of Terex Noell RTGs, plus the great relationship that we share with the company’s team, had a strong influence on our purchase decision," said Chen Yongning, engineering department manager, Ningbo Port Group Phase V Yuandong port terminal.

Despite the first signs of the onset of global market challenges, container throughput in Ningbo continued to grow to reach a total of 13 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in 2010, or a 25 percent increase compared to 2009, making it China’s third biggest port.
